Total ingredients
Weight | Ingredient |
270 g | All-purpose flour |
225 g | Butter |
160 g | Brown sugar |
50 g | White sugar |
6 g | Baking soda |
2x | Eggs |
1 package (~37 g) | Instant vanilla pudding mix |
300 g | Milk chocolate chips |
Depending on how big you are going to shape the cookies you will have about 30 to 36 of them.
Tip: We used smaller and bigger chocolate chips to have different sizes in the cookies.
Difficulty
Very simple recipe with just a few steps.
Baking tools
Nothing special is needed besides a hand mixer, bowl, baking plate and parchment paper. Only an cookie scoop can come in handy for shaping the cookies, but it is not necessary, you can also use tablespoons.
Steps
1. Mix
Weight | Ingredient |
160 g | Brown sugar |
50 g | White sugar |
2x | Eggs |
225 g | Butter – Softened |
1 package (~37 g) | Instant vanilla pudding mix |
- Mix all of the mentioned ingredients together with a hand mixer
- Start with the sugar and eggs until creamy
- Afterwards add the softened butter and instant vanilla pudding mix
- Tip: If you take your butter directly out of the fridge, you can cut the butter in smaller chunks into a bowl and melt in the microwave for about 30 seconds
Weight | Ingredient |
270 g | All-purpose flour |
6 g | Baking soda |
300 g | Milk chocolate chips |
- Switch to dough hooks
- Add the all-purpose flour and baking soda step by step to the previous dough while mixing further
- Afterwards add the milk chocolate chips and stir with a large spoon
2. Shape
- To shape your cookies you can either use 2 tablespoons or a cookie scoop
- Take 2 baking plates and cover them with parchment paper
- Shape each cookie and drop it on the baking plate next to each other
- There should be no more than 12 cookies on a single baking plate
- The images below show the shaped cookies by using the tablespoons method
- Here you can see the shaped cookies by using the cookie scoop method
- We prefer this method as it is easier, faster and a more consistent size among all cookies
3. Bake
- Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) for ~25 minutes with the upper and lower heat function
- Put one baking plate in the middle rack of the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes
- Yes, 8-10 minutes are really enough to get them fully baked 😉
- After baking take the cookies out on the parchment paper they were baked on
4. Cool
- Let your finished soft baked chocolate chip cookies rest on the parchament paper they were baked on for at least 15 minutes
Conclusion
Taste
Even though the recipe is quite simple, these cookies are extremely delicious and the soft “melt-in-the-mouth” texture makes them even better.
While baking, the added chocolate chips melt a little. The chocolate combined with the soft baked dough tastes like heaven.
If you like chocolate a lot you can add some more of the chips. They are the highlight on every (birthday-) party or baby shower. I personally prefer them just after they come out of the oven when they are still warm.
Results For Different Baking Times
- The cookies on the left have been baked for 8 minutes, the cookies in the middle for 9 minutes and on the right for 10 minutes
- Even if the cookies on the left don’t look like the most delicious ones, in our opinion they taste the best as they are still soft and chewy
- The others look better, but got too crunchy and therefore lost the characteristic “soft baked” texture
